The Cypress Inn, partially owned by Doris, is a pet friendly hotel and has been a landmark in Carmel, California (Doris' current hometown) since 1929.

Doris Day Animal League
The Doris Day Animal League is a national nonprofit citizens lobbying organization formed to focus attention on issues involving the humane treatment of animals. Merging in September 2006 with The Humane Society of the United States, they work with the U.S. Congress, goverment agencies, and state and local officials, to pass new laws and enforce existing laws that reduce the suffering of animals anywhere they are mistreated. Doris Day is the founder and president.

Doris Day Animal Foundation
Formally the Doris Day Pet Foundation, the Doris Day Animal Foundation is a national, nonprofit organization founded in 1978 by Doris Day. This foundation is dedicated to the proposition of creating caring communities by aknowledging the significant interrelationship between animal welfare and human development. DDAF also just recently merged with The Humane Society of the United States.
